Kenya is one of Africa's most beautiful countries! Its lush green valleys, majestic mountains and magnificent lakes and rivers make it one of Africa's true treasures. But it is also one of the world's poorest nations. As most of its 34 million residents survive on $1-a-day or less, diseases such as AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis continue to claim thousands of lives every month -- mostly adults. As a result, more than half of those living today in Kenya are children under the age of 18.
